Town Hall

Ilkeston: The Town Hall — Market Place, Grade 2

Constructed between 1866 and 1868, the town hall features red brickwork with sandstone dressings, as well as blue and yellow brick details. It showcases rustication and quoins, a moulded cornice separating the floors, and a balustraded parapet topped with urns, all under a Welsh slate roof. The building comprises two stories and five bays, with the central three bays prominently projecting. A recessed porch with a round arch marks the entrance, while the windows above are round-headed, each adorned with keystones, moulded impost bands, and hood moulds; three of these arches display polychromatic brickwork. A balcony with carved brackets, an openwork balustrade, and ball finials sits above the main doorway.
